On Saturday, December 6th over 60 of our neighborhood's most dedicated volunteers gathered at Alamo Square for a historic planting of 70 young trees as part of ASNA's Trees For Future Generations campaign which began back in 2016. 

The effort was the second phase in a three phase reforestation plan to restore the urban canopy of Alamo Square which had declined significantly due to a lack of regular tree planting through the years.  

The reforestation plan put together by board member J. Lee Stickles' landscape architecture firm TS Studios calls for drought tolerant native species with longer life spans than trees previously planted by SFRPD. 

The third phase of the plan will take place in 2022 with a series of much larger trees being paid for by ASNA thanks to some of our most generous donors whose names can be found on pavers at the top of the Hayes & Pierce street entrance to the park.
