Membership Increase Takes Effect In 2022.

December 30, 2021

At the final ASNA board of directors meeting of 2021, the ASNA board approved a membership rate increase to take effect on January 1, 2022 for all membership levels of the organization. Please see the below FAQ for more information about why the rate increase is being implemented.  We look forward to continued and increased support of our amazing neighborhood!

Q: Why is there a price increase going into effect next year?

Jason: "ASNA has not raised membership dues since 2017. Over the past four years our costs have increased along with our investments in building community. Updating our membership dues to reflect the evolution of our organization and the expansion of our mission-driven efforts is necessary for us to maintain and expand our investments in the neighborhood."

Q: What impact will the rate increase have on low or fixed income neighbors?

Jason: "We are certainly sensitive to folks who are experiencing financial hardship and the impact a rate increase has on their ability to participate. To address the potential impact a rate increase may have on some of our neighbors, we're rolling out a fee waiver for anyone who can't afford to pay our member dues. We are also rolling out a membership grant for  members who cannot afford the dues but volunteer regularly. I believe that by adding these options, accessing an ASNA membership will be easy for anyone who would like to participate in the great work we do."

Q: How are membership fees used?

Jason: "Membership fees are used to cover our operating costs like our e-newsletter, zoom service, and  website, as well as in support of community benefits like volunteer gardening and neighborhood socials throughout the year. Our paying members allow us to increase our neighborhood participation and invest in the things that make Alamo Square a great place to be. With all the progress we've made over the last several years, we're confident that our dedicated members will continue to support our mission of preserving our beautiful park, improving our historic neighborhood and enhancing our vibrant merchant corridor.
