If you've walked past the Shell Station at 400 Divisadero you've probably noticed the beautiful new mural that has gone up over the unsightly tagging that had seemingly taken over the entire wall. 

Thanks to the cooperation of the folks at 400 Divis, Resilient SF, and Buddy Buddy Indoor Natural Cannabis, there is now a colorful mural commemorating San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey. 

You may recall that in 2019 Madrone owner Michael Krouse painted the "No Mean People" mural at the site. Unfortunately, in 2020 with many folks stuck at home sheltering in place the mural was overrun with tagging and eventually had to be painted over. 

Once painted over the site became a favorite target for taggers. The tagging became so pervasive that ASNA began recieving complaints from neighbors that the site was becoming a public nuissance. 

In response we reached out to our friends at 400 Divisadero to propose a solution that would incorporate local artists and perhaps become a local attraction like Clarion Alley in the Mission. At the time the folks at 400 Divis were already coordinating behind the scenes to address the issue and create something beautiful that the community could enjoy.

The latest mural was painted by local artist Crayone (@crayone on Instagram). The mural has the word 'Resilient' painted in large orange letters and is nod to the work that the city has been doing in partnership with NGO's, local businesses, and community groups to create a more resilient San Francisco.
