Public Art @ Ida B. Wells Vandalized By Taggers

ASNA is seeking assistance in repairing the mural.

Vandals have tagged the mural defacing a beautiful piece of public art that was partially funded by ASNA many years ago. The beautiful mosaic tile mural was commissioned as part of a larger effort by ASNA to discourage tagging and graffiti around the neighborhood.

We reached out to DPW to request a community ambassador to guide us through proper techniques for graffiti removal. Sadly, DPW has stated they will not touch a mural on SFUSD school property. And since SFUSD is busy with a more pressing challenge of getting our kids back in classrooms, we are looking for assistance to lead a group of volunteers to properly remove the spray paint.

If you have knowledge or expertise in graffiti removal, please email us at alamosquare@gmail.com to assist in helping us restore this beautiful piece of public art. Thank you!
