  • Neighborhood Emergency Fund

    Effective April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026

  • The ASNA Neighborhood Emergency Fund (NEF) provides small, rapid-response grants to residents within the ASNA catchment area during times of personal or community-wide emergency. These grants are not loans and do not need to be repaid.

    Who Is Eligible?

    Residents of the ASNA catchment area, which includes homes, rental units, and businesses within the boundaries of the Association, are eligible to apply.

  • What Constitutes an Emergency?

    The NEF is designed to assist with unexpected, urgent situations that pose an immediate risk to a resident's health, safety, or ability to remain housed. Common qualifying situations include, but are not limited to:

    • Emergency repairs to prevent eviction or unsafe living conditions.
    • Essential needs following a fire, flood, or other disaster.
    • Victim support or security improvements for post-crime incident.

    What Does Not Constitute an Emergency?

    • Sudden loss of income or employment.
    • Medical emergency or urgent dental care not covered by insurance.
    • General maintenance of a business.

    Typical Grant Amounts

    The EFC will consider each application on a case-by-case basis, but grants will generally fall within the following ranges:

    Typical Grant Range Type of Emergency

    Essential needs following a fire, flood, or other disaster (e.g. food, transport, accommodation) $100 – $250

    Emergency repairs to prevent eviction or unsafe living conditions (e.g. utility shut-off prevention) $50 – $75

    Temporary relocation support $50 – $100

    Emergency transportation (e.g. to shelter, work, hospital) $25 – $50

    Security improvements post-crime incident $50 – $100

    Emergency childcare $25 – $75

    Maximum grant per household / business per fiscal year: $250


    How to Apply

    Residents may contact the EFC through NEF@alamosquare.org. Applications may be submitted by individuals, ASNA member sponsors, or on behalf of a neighbor in need (with their consent). Applicants should be sponsored by an ASNA Member or addressing a publicly known emergency.

    All applications will be reviewed promptly and with discretion. Funds may be distributed via check or Venmo.

    Confidentiality

    The identity of applicants and recipients will be kept strictly confidential.
